Leawood Welcomers was formed in 1958 by several neighborhood women and local developers. The original group greeted new residents and provided information about community activities. Early events included luncheons, art and garden shows, Bridge and Canasta groups.
Today our club brings together new and long-time residents of Leawood to meet and participate in social activities. Day an evening groups are available for all members, with most groups meeting on a monthly basis, September through May.
There are three luncheons each year (October, December and May) for all members and their guests at various restaurants and country clubs. An interesting program is also included.
Get-togethers are scheduled in September and April. New-to-the-area as well as long-time residents are welcomed and introduced to the various activities of the organization.
Several evening events are held with or without spouses, sometimes casual, sometimes dressy, but always fun and friendly.
